Testimonial: coaching is reflective and inspiring

The Client: Rugged Robotics is a Houston-based construction technology company. Their first product tackles the challenge of field layout, and replaces slow, error-prone, manual layout with an autonomous vehicle that marks fully-coordinated A/E designs directly onto unfinished floors. Shimoo LLC provides executive coaching to Rugged Robotic’s CEO, Derrick Morse.

Goals: As the CEO of a startup, Morse often faces complex challenges at work. His goals are widespread and with so much to balance, it can be hard to stay on-track. It can also be difficult to manage a long list of tasks while being a thoughtful and empathetic manager of people. Morse sought out coaching with Shimoo to hold himself accountable and keep developing his leadership skills.

The Results: Morse values the time spent with Joonki as an opportunity to slow down and celebrate achievements. He shared:

“Joonki is a trusted mentor and coach. His thoughts and observations come from a place of deep caring and I genuinely appreciate his support as I face bigger and more complex challenges. Our coaching sessions are a refreshing break from my normal activities, and a refuge from the pressures of leadership and startup life. He offers a safe place to discuss anything and everything I’m dealing with. He listens well, asks powerful questions, and forces me to reflect on my actions.

Talking to Joonki is a great way to hold myself to account for some of the aspirational goals I have. By stating my goals out loud when we speak, I commit to them, and I follow through with more focus and determination than I otherwise would. Sometimes he’ll check-in and ask about my progress, sometimes I’ll offer an unsolicited update. He often asks powerful questions that force me to reflect on my successes and my failures. He celebrates my successes (big and small), and he forces me to pause and recognize them as well. That is powerful and important!

Perhaps the biggest impact he’s had on my routine is to pause, reflect, and celebrate my successes. I’m grateful to be working with him, and can’t imagine a more effective executive coach.”
